Vermont doesn't necessarily fit the climate for many fruits, but one thing that flourishes here are blueberries! Perhaps the most unique VPP sauce, Blueberry Habanero is a take on blueberry pie. Don't let that fool you, because this sauce is surprisingly versatile. Blueberries and a touch of raspberries are the fruit vessel that you commonly find with most habanero sauces. Lemon juice and apple cider vinegar add a complex tang that compliments both blueberries and habanero peppers flawlessly. Ginger, garlic and cinnamon give this a unique spice kick to blend with the heat from the peppers!
Like most of our other sauces, this has personal roots. The inspiration comes from years of growing up around blueberry bushes, and my mother's infamous blueberry pies from her days at the farmer's market here in Rutland, VT when I was just a toddler.
